The Practice
Our experience is that our clients would prefer to spend more time working on the success of their businesses instead of being tied down by the record keeping and HMRC deadlines. We can provide constructive advice and assistance which can make a real difference to running your business.
The majority of our clients live, and are based, in The Lothians, Borders and Fife, and are almost all family owned and operated businesses from sole traders to larger limited companies.

Our History
We’ve been serving businesses throughout The Lothian, Borders and Fife for over 50 years.
James Anderson has taken a step back from the day to day work in the practice but he is still available in the background to advise.

Chris Spalding
Senior Partner
Chris has worked as a Chartered Accountant since 1993 and has a wealth of experience advising small family businesses in a variety of sectors. His focus is on helping businesses to perform better and has a keen interest in how technology is transforming accountancy and business processes.
In his time away from the office Chris enjoys following Edinburgh Rugby and getting up to the Highlands for some golf and cycling.
Allison Neill
Partner
Allison is a member of ICAS and ATT and enjoys working with a variety of owner-managed businesses, assisting them with accounting and taxation issues. Her focus is on providing a friendly service advising on day to day issues in accountancy, taxation and ensuring compliance.
In her spare time, Allison enjoys spending time with her family, cooking and walking her dogs.
Mark GN Ferguson
Associate
Mark is an experienced chartered accountant who works closely with the partners and his own portfolio of clients. He provides assistance to a wide range of individuals, small businesses and organisations with a particular emphasis on charity accounts.
Outside the office he enjoys disappearing into a good book and following the occasional ups (and frequent downs!) of his favourite teams.
Janet Kozlowski
Accountant
Janet is a qualified Chartered Accountant, who has been in general practice for over 30 years, understanding issues and challenges affecting owner-managed businesses. Janet is Xero accredited and has experience with most accounting software packages as well as helping small businesses understand the full potential of Cloud Accounting.
Having moved to the area in 2017, Janet enjoys exploring and having fun geocaching. At home, she relaxes by crafting, baking and gardening.
Nita Joshi
Administrator
Nita is the first point of contact for clients and visitors to James Anderson, by phone and in person, dealing with most administrative queries. She enjoys helping clients and ensuring they receive all the help they require.
Outside work, Nita enjoys spending time in the kitchen, cooking dishes from around the world, as well as reading and hanging out with family and friends.
Amy Weir
Payroll Leader
Amy is an experienced payroll administrator, who looks after the weekly and monthly payroll processing and manages the auto-enrolment process for our clients.
Outside work, Amy enjoys spending time with her family. She also follows Scottish motor racing and enjoys a visit to Knockhill when she can.
Linsay Hooker
Linsay is a qualified management accountant with Xero accreditation. She enjoys assisting in all areas of the business.
In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, reading, cooking, and being involved in Girlguiding.
